Unthawing is a great and common description used to comprehend spring equinox. Our subconscious is warming up to the idea of being playful, entering a new body, getting ready to conquer another pilgrimage. The body takes an ample number of days to reach its peak fortitude. Time always adds intensity, especially going through Libra, Aries, and into Taurus energies. The conversations between the associated planets speeds up our infatuation for a vitalized future. This infatuation reveals a new burst of self-confidence underneath the thawed ice of winter. Prancing into Aries season, we mist ourselves with an outpour of blessings after a dizziness of confusion. Hardly ever do we hear about success without hearing about the failures along the way. Ain’t shit sweet, unless its bitter first.

Before I suggest an herb that best assists with how to “unthaw”, let’s purify and prepare for the next version of ourselves. We throw our anger and frustrations like heavy stones at the Earth. We give the Earth what doesn’t serve us because we take it for granted. We forget Earth swells up when we’re ripped from it. You’re only granted immunity from your setbacks if you and Earth make an agreement to unthaw together, rather than just confiding or dumping on it. Include Earth’s herbs into your magic.

Mint is the best for “unthawing” your fertile energy, birthing success, and protecting your money. To enhance visions, blend mint and frankincense and burn on charcoal. While the smoke lifts say this spell, repeat lines 8-10 3x.

I am the air.
After many successive pushes
Sea becomes waves.

I am the seed
Earth waits for a final push—
Life becomes inebriated
By my waves.

I am the influence
I am the push
I am the wave

To feel your healing skills developing in a palpable way, fill your plate full of colors—Eat the rainbow. After this new moon you’ll be self and cosmically pressured to really set up your future. Before you nourish your dreams, nourishing your body takes place first. This includes the weed that pleases your eyes and nose, since that also enters your body.

Earth fortifies us with vibrant veggies, fruit, and all shades of greens. Through these fresh produce, the truth pours down our belly. When we eat what Earth provides, we can go back to source—the divine grace hauled by our ancestors, an ongoing fragment of energy. We are morally bound to pick up the natural resources that have been stripped from us, which explains why most of us are homesick for a place of naked divine direction. 2019 suggests we give form to that which has no form, to be guided by divine spirit, starting with the divine spirit flowing out of food.

Everything else not grown from Earth undermines our attempt to grow strong with water and wildlife. Manufactured opinions and meals subdue our visions. The energy we use to express ourselves doesn’t actually come from us, we only lead it.

Mystic Marijuana: Full Moon in Gemini

Seeing the moon’s fullest face under my sun sign of Gemini has brought a new spark in a slow-burning candle of long-term personal and artistic goals. By nature, I am a person focused on the long-term—I tend to the garden of my life with care, always planting seeds for one plant while watering another, and harvesting yet another. This method, paired with the whimsical nature of Gemini’s, means that about things that matter to me—my heart, my art, my body, my communities....my destiny—I have a clear vision of where it is I want to end up, or rather, what feelings I want to arrive at.

Dreaming under this full moon in Gemini, I hear very loudly the echoes of my quietest childhood daydreams. It is easy to be coerced off your highest path, a road filled with precious jewels hidden in a jungle of mysterious darkness, and tricked into taking the neon-lit path of convenience, stifled curiosity, and veiled misery. But as womxn of the moon and incarnations of our ancestors, we are not so easily jaded or defeated to abandon our purpose.

{As a Black womxn. As a Black womxnist. As an empath. As an artist. As a healer. As a social connector.} It is more times than not draining to look at the “realities” that others have created and forced upon me. It is hard to fight the feeling of defeat in comparing resources of a small, BIWOC business to a corporation. It is maddening to know those same resources came from my ancestors’ minds and vaginas. I could choose to feel vindictive toward love, bristle from old wounds, and refuse to let others love me. However, we all have to decide if we are to be scared by “reality” and settle into a lesser position than we should, sink into the righteous, though uncreative energy of becoming bitter, or stay open in our hearts, minds, and bodies to our own UNIQUE, ETERNAL, INTUITIVE POWER.

Recently, I have been undergoing massive shifts in all aspects of my life—from stepping into a new career, re-locating cities, becoming a godmother, living in love, and taking on new creative and business endeavors. Usually, I feel overwhelmed when I feel everything stable coming loose from underneath me, however over the past couple months I have been steadily repeating the words:

“LOVE + SMOOTH TRANSITIONS ”

This is to remind myself to stay open and grateful for all that’s in my life and heart, and in transition to be grateful for everything leaving me and everything coming to me.

Under this full moon in Gemini , I am reminded that I am already worthy of everything coming. I am encouraged to stay open in my heart and be flexible to adventure and any “detours” on my journey. Under this lunar glow I understand that when I love myself and let other people really love me, I open myself to an even greater love from the universe. When I trust my ideas and execution, I see myself in the pure vision of my childhood dreams and my highest soul callings.

To be in transition can make us want to retreat toward comfort, toward small ways of the past. However, I encourage us all to enter Sagittarius season with a burning heart of love and bravery, rather than huddle around a dying flame of the past. Trust that what’s in your heart will guide you and do not cripple yourself by doubting your intuition and creativity. You are worthy of the oceans of change washing upon you.

Love + Smooth Transitions,

Mystic Marijuana: New Moon in Scorpio
scorpiobaby.png

Scorpio energy contains an inaccessible lair, hiding our wildest side, a shadow trotting behind us full of mystery. In hindsight, we ask for a close-up on a dangerous, dense adventure. The only warning however, is theft of ancient domains because they (the colonial enterprise) fear the dark cocoon of grief and love inside us all—a quiet ache swelling up a raw force during this new moon.

Like my Tita says, eat all the bruised fruits to consume the most nutritional benefits. In those terms, ‘first world’ habits towards our untamed closeted traditions are to eat only the perfect fruits. Society manically disorganizes our power for they’re trying to eat our durability. Yes, our durability is weighted with fragility, if so we break, echoes of ancient memory—healers, priestesses, ritualists, herbalists, and mediators between realms—ring our corridor of history, awakening our core like a distant gong. Our intentions this month drastically ripple and flood a watery grave as earth’s poisons perish.

Scorpio season will keep us alive at twilight, refreshed by the cooling effects of the oncoming occultism. We get stronger when we value our bodies and minds. We don’t get stronger for the sake of being independent—we, who are many, get stronger when we learn about our heritage and give birth to children. This is the reckoning they will see. We get stronger when we are willing to do what is necessary. Below are mantras so you may experience a blissful surrealism of ancestral remedy during this time of complex emotions and demands for rapid acclimation to bounce back from any disparity or find means to support yourself. Most importantly take care of your body, which will take care of your ancestors.

Scorpio Mantra:

I give my body permission to lead and guide

My body is mine and mine alone

My body dances with wholeness

I tune into a rhythm, only my body can feel and hear
