Cosmically Charged Rituals: Dancing With an Open Heart by Chante Dyson

Dancing with an Open Heart
Chante Dyson

Over the past few years, I have been very intentional about activating my divine feminine energy in order to give birth to my ideal reality. I find it fascinating that women can give birth not only to babies, but also to projects, art, and ideas. When I was learning a lot about wellness and spirituality during my undergraduate years at Rutgers University, I had finally realized my innate power as a woman and decided to stop taking a passive approach to my life. I wanted to dream big and turn the lemons of my life into the sweetest lemonade; I wanted to fully embody my divinity.

I knew that my vision for my life was grand and I was determined to become all that I needed to be in order to actualize everything I saw for myself. I spent a lot of time nurturing myself from the inside out through holistic healing practices, releasing any blockages that existed in my internal world. Emotions and traumas can be stored in the body over time, and I’ve learned through practices such as yoga and breathwork that I can alleviate these feelings and restore myself back to optimal being. I have learned so much on this journey thus far and am incredibly honored to share one of my favorite practices with you all, dancing. I dance every single day because it allows me to tap fully into my feminine power. I feel good in my body and I love my body for all that it provides.

Life is spontaneous and wild. You never know when you may just get knocked right on your feet. After recently experiencing great heaviness and loss, I traveled to Puerto Rico with the intention to unblock my heart chakra and step back into my power. I felt like the goddess Sade Adu, when she says in Soldier of Love, “I’ve lost the use of my heart, but I’m still alive.” I was determined to get to the other side of my pain and transmute those feelings into something far greater. I’d wake up at 5am and head to the ocean to catch the sunrise. I rented an airbnb in the mountains and had a self-love night with myself with lingerie, fresh fruits, plant medicine, chardonnay, and lots of afrobeats/dancehall music. I wrote myself a self-love letter and bathed, staring out at the mountains. It was intimate and romantic and I realized that love is always available to me because it comes from within. Since then I’ve been channeling the energy of that evening into other areas of my life. I started to get back into a consistent dance practice in order to activate that feminine energy and express outwardly the love that exists within.

Feminine energy is the energy of attraction. When our hearts are open, we radiate that love energy and develop the ability to call in our desires. It is that soft power that allows us to manifest and create exponentially. This is vital for me as an entrepreneur and artist because I have to continuously be resourceful and come up with the right ideas and strategies that work for my business. Being in my feminine energy actually allows me to thrive as an entrepreneur in a way that feels right for me. I start my dance practice by drinking the heart opener herbal blend from Cosmically Charged Beauty. You can actually have the herbal blend in smoke, tea, or incense form. The herbs in the blend open the heart chakra and facilitate emotional peace.

In the body, the anahata or heart chakra represents the center of the chest going back towards the spine. The color of the chakra is said to be green. It has to do with feelings of love and compassion for all beings.

It’s about being unselfish, empathetic, and forgiving. When the chakra is in healthy alignment, you become a very loving person. Love is always present. We can embody this love fully by opening the heart chakra and allowing ourselves to see all of the beauty in and around us. Any relationship challenges will be handled and resolved with ease when this chakra is in healthy alignment. A few ways that I intentionally open my heart chakra is by drinking my favorite heart opener herbal blend, consuming green foods that nourish my body, doing heart-opening yoga poses, following heart chakra guided meditations, and reciting affirmations to myself like:

My heart is open to love. I love and honor myself. My self-pleasure is a priority. My belief is that God is love and my own ability to “become love” represents my true nature and divine purpose.

After drinking my heart opener herbal blend, I go straight into my dance rehearsal and practice. Lately I’ve been mostly dancing salsa tropicana, belly dance, and soca. I also do heels dance classes. I love dance styles that are very sensual because they allow me to become  fully present in my body. It’s never about being perfect, it’s simply about feeling good within my body. I’m an air sign and always thinking, so dance actually helps me to get out of my head and enjoy the sacred vessel that I’m living in. After dancing, I do a bit of stretching to ensure that I am being gentle and not over-exerting myself. I focus a lot on opening the hips so that any emotions that may be stored there are released. I also love working on my splits because it truly feels good to release that tension in the body. Overall, flexibility is just as important as dance for me because it is the foundation for all of my movement in life. With this intentional practice I return back to myself; I return to love. If you are looking for me, you’ll find me dancing with an open heart.

I encourage you to add to your holistic healing practice by incorporating dance into your routine. Begin your self love ritual  with the heart opener herbal blend and intuitively go from there. Remember that when we are in flow, we are open to all of the abundance that the universe provides. Remain open and watch your blessings flow like a river.
