Meet The Women: Nicolle Callier

It’s Nicolle here, officially signing onto The International Girl Gang Network.

I’m a creative storyteller currently living in my hometown of Seattle. However, I grew up in Atlanta where I first witnessed #BlackExcellence, and heard and fell in love with Trap music.

I was first introduced to the “sticky-icky” in HIGHschool via my homeboy, but it wasn’t until college that I really started consuming cannabis medicinally. I attended college at a PWI (Predominantly White Institution) and my friends and I, who were Black and Latino, smoked weed to ease our anxiety from having to maneuver around a city/campus where we often felt, and at times were treated, like we didn’t belong.

So, you already know there were many late night, last minute study and smoke sessions where we talked about everything, from our personal struggles to our future aspirations, all over a Swisher Sweet. That’s when I first realized the power and influence cannabis has over conversation and people’s ability and willingness to share their emotions and experiences.

After graduating college I got involved in the cannabis industry as a editorial intern. From there I started writing for various digital cannabis media platforms.

As a storyteller in cannabis media my entire mission is to bring awareness to social injustices, like the War on Drugs and lack of BIWOC representation in the legal weed industry, and to explore these topics looking through the lenses of music, art, and fashion. I interview womxn and POC artists and entrepreneurs who are involved in the business of legal weed and also enjoy cannabis for its medicinal, spiritual, and artistic talents.

Right now my favorite strain is Green Queen. A hybrid cross of Green Crack x Space Queen. It’s one of those super uplifting, energizing strains. The type of weed I like to smoke in the morning as a perfect start to my busy day, or even during the evenings when I go out and turn up with the gang gang.

I’m so thrilled and proud to join my Women.Weed.WiFi sisters and The International Girl Gang. I look forward to continuing to speak and connect with more amazing womxn and femme artists exclusively for the Women.Weed.WiFi blog over a blunt and edible, or two…

Stay tuned for future artists interviews, cannabis event recaps, and more!

Meet the Women: 777 Capsule Series by Neish

Hola! My name is Neish, and I’m a blogger, dj, visual artist, healer, cosmic servant, and yes, I do indulge in the herb…faithfully (lol).

Only a few months ago (Oct. 2017) I finally moved from my hometown of Baltimore to Atlanta. My first goal after the big move was to create and release a few dj mixes. I began brainstorming concepts for them as well as for the cover art of the mixes. While doing so, I decided that I would create visuals for each mix instead of a simple photo or drawing for the cover art. Immediately after that, I had figured out my concept.

As a student of chakra balancing and crystal healing, I couldn’t resist combining the teachings of our chakras to music that would correspond. And so began 777 Capsule: seven visuals and seven mixes based on the seven main chakras! This became my opportunity to express myself through visual art, music, and personal experience, all while educating others on a different and new ways of connecting with and healing themselves.

And so it began…I allowed myself to be completely vulnerable in the creation process. I allowed a side of myself that is usually private to be displayed for the education and healing of others. And every time I thought I was completely connected with myself, or couldn’t be any more honest with myself, or couldn’t go any deeper within myself…there I was, going 100 ft deeper…and deeper…and deeper. The visuals consumed me. I placed the mixes on the back burner and allowed the visuals, their teachings, and the conversations surrounding them to take on a life of their own.

Short intro of the seven main chakras:

Our seven main chakras regulate the flow of energy throughout our bodies. These energy cycles align our spine, beginning at the base/root of our spine, and flows through the top of our crown. Your emotional, spiritual, and physical bodies all connect here. Blocked and/or imbalanced chakras cease the natural flow of energy and can initiate mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual ailments. The first three chakras, ROOT, SACRAL, & SOLAR PLEXUS, focus on energies of matter, which are more physical in nature. The last four main chakras, HEART, THROAT, THIRD EYE, and CROWN, are more spiritual in nature.

o   ROOT – Safety, security, survival, basic needs, health, identity, ancestral connection — Red

o   SACRAL – Sexuality, creativity, emotions/feelings — Orange

o   SOLAR PLEXUS – Willpower, self-discipline, confidence/assurance, independence, (ego) — Yellow

o   HEART – Self-love, love for others,  compassion, empathy, forgiveness, acceptance, awareness — Green

o   THROAT – Expression, communication (verbal, nonverbal), truth, timing — Blue

o   THIRD EYE – Vision, intuition, perception, insight, psychic abilities, wisdom, inspiration— Indigio

o   CROWN – Consciousness, sacredness, connection to the infinite, liberation, ecstasy, bliss, presence — Violet

Balancing your chakras is not a form of religion or disbelief, only a way to connect and heal yourself.

Stay tuned for the first three visuals and chakra teachings!

Sunflower Cyn’s Brunch for the Soul

You know those fancy, Pinterest-worthy events you see photos of on Instagram? Ya know, the well-lit photos of white women dressed in their cutest brunch attire, drinking mimosas and all appearing to be best friends?

Everytime I scrolled past photos from one of those brunches, blogger meet-ups, mixers etc., I often found myself secretly wishing there were more events like them where women like myself were not only invited, but felt valued and appreciated.

After binge-watching The Great British Bake-Off and watching more cooking documentaries and TV shows than I could count, I decided I wanted to cook for a group of people. At first, I didn’t know what I wanted to cook or who I wanted to cook for, so everytime an idea came to me, I jotted it down on my white board. Before I knew it, I had a name, menu, audience, and purpose.

I didn’t just want to cook for people. I wanted to inspire them. And not just people...women. Specifically, women of color. I wanted not only their stomachs to be full, but their soul.

When developing the idea of Brunch for the Soul, I wanted to offer a meaningful event for women to make real and lasting personal and business relationships with other growing women. I envisioned a monthly to bi-monthly event where women could get dressed up, drink, eat, laugh, grow and connect.

Now, with the third Brunch for the Soul on February 24, I can happily say my vision has come to life. At this chapter of Brunch for the Soul, we will be celebrating Galentine’s Day in the best way possible. From bottomless rosé mimosas and a brunch buffet to girl boss guest speakers, I couldn’t be more excited.

Meet The Women: Sunflower Cyn

Hey! Meet our newest contributor/ girl gang member, Sunflower Cyn! Based in Baton Rouge, LA we are super excited to have this beauty on the team. Get to know her below, and stay tuned for some bomb things in the future!

It was the summer after my freshman year in college and my boyfriend and I had just broken up. I was chilling on the couch while my two guy friends each rolled a blunt. We were on our way to the movies when one asked if I wanted to hit the blunt for the first time.

For whatever reason, I felt comfortable enough to give it a try. It was Green Crack. After only a few hits I was straight trippin. Like actually thought my tongue was sweating,  trippin. *Insert face palm*

It’s safe to say, my feelings and appreciation for Mary Jane have changed!

After dancing with Mary Jane for the last few years, we’ve made lots of memories together. From head banging to heavy bass at music festivals, to hiking mountains before sunrise, there’s nothing better than seeing the world with a joint in hand.

In addition to puffing on some of my favorite strains like Girl Scout Cookies and Grand Daddy Purple, I enjoy writing, photography, yoga, music, art, and traveling. My favorite times to smoke are often while listening to music. In addition to listening to Soulection mixes, artists like Sango, Esta. and Abra are my Soundcloud go-tos.

On Women.Weed.WiFi I hope to share magical images of bud, fun feature stories, and connect with other dope fearless, go-getting women.
